Strengthening Energy Security Through Gas, LNG and Strategic Cooperation

Yesterday, our President – Mr Andrea Stegher – attended The Argentina-EU Strategic Dialogue on Energy Security, Energy Transition and LNG organised by the Embassy of Argentina to Belgium and to the European Union in partnership with the European Commission.

This high-level Dialogue enjoyed, among others, the presence of senior representatives from the European Commission, Argentine authorities and EU Member States, with a purpose to exchange views on Europe’s evolving energy landscape and Argentina’s capacity to contribute to European energy security, supply diversification and the EU Member States’ energy evolution.

Particular attention was devoted to Argentina’s emerging LNG export capacity and the opportunities for European companies and investors to contribute to its development, while also exploring broader areas of cooperation, investment and business partnerships across the energy sector.

Taking part in the first panel session of this high-level diplomatic dialogue - Navigating the Global Energy Landscape: Markets, Security and Policy Responses – IGU’s President was joined by Ms Beatriz Yordi, Director International and Energy Security, DG ENER, European Commission and by H.E. Daniel González Casartelli, Secretary for Energy and Mining of Argentina. Mr Stegher’s panel session was moderated by Mr Paolo Garzotti, Head of Unit for Trade Relations with Latin America in DG TRADE.

In his remarks, Mr Stegher provided an overview of the current state of the global Gas and LNG market, as well as of the International Gas Union’s future outlook for the sector. IGU’s President further elaborated on his views regarding the evolution of the global Gas and LNG market over the coming years, particularly in terms of demand, supply, investment and trade flows.
