Present at Arpel Conference in Argentina, the President of the International Gas Union (IGU) – Mr Andrea Stegher – undertook a series of highly prominent activities for not just IGU but, equally, for the global Gas industry overall:

On June 2nd, a landmark report was released by IGU, Arpel and OLACDE, on the Opportunities for the Development of Gas in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the plenary session of the Conference.

The launch of the Report was anticipated by a largely participated Stakeholders’ Dialogue session where numerous regional players were actively engaging to further promote the sector in the area.

Also on June 2nd, Mr Stegher delivered the Keynote address for the Opportunities to Expand LNG and NGL Use and Exports in the Region session, where he highlighted the strong resilience of the gas industry in these challenging times, with global LNG providing flexibility to ease the recent supply issues connected to the Gulf crisis.

On June 3rd, IGU’s President attended the global and regional associations panel at the Conference, entitled The Present and Future of Our Industrial Sector. In his Panel intervention, Mr Stegher made reference to the fundamental role of IGU and similar organisations in strengthening the role of open and constructive dialogue among relevant stakeholders and reinforcing fact and figures’ based discussions, especially when considering the growing energy requirements of the global population and economy together with the need to reduce greenhouse emissions.
