The International Gas Union (IGU) announced the appointment of Mr. Menelaos (Mel) Ydreos as its Interim Secretary General, replacing Milton Catelin.
The interim Secretary General will act with full authority to lead the IGU’s Secretariat and manage the IGU’s London HQ operations, focusing on membership engagement, international advocacy and the IGU’s flagship events series.
Mel most recently served as the Executive Director for LNG2023; the successful global LNG conference staged in Vancouver, Canada. Mr. Ydreos brings a wealth of experience in the gas industry and a deep knowledge of the IGU organisation. He has previously served as the IGU Director of Public Affairs leading the IGU’s external relations and advocacy activity. He also served as Chairman, Coordination Committee under the USA IGU Presidency and played a key role in the staging of the World Gas Conference (WGC2018) in Washington DC.
