There were 543 experts in attendance from 43 countries working in Committees and Task Forces. The CC always welcomes and encourages IGU members to nominate their experts to participate in IGU Committees and Task Forces. The experts are the most valuable resources to the IGU and to the world gas industry.

IGU EXC HIGH-LEVEL INDUSTRY REGIONAL WORKSHOP

A highly relevant and exceptionally well received industry and stakeholder discussions workshop wrapped up the working meetings series. This by-invitation, Chatham House rule session included two roundtable discussions and keynote presentations dealing with the pressing issues for the industry in the region, the future of gas in Europe, and the ongoing energy crisis.  Featuring presentations from Frans Timmermans and Matthew Baldwin of the, European Commission; Arno Büx, CCO Fluxys, and Martjn Overgaag, Director, Gas for Climate at Guidehouse Insights, and excellent frank discussions focused on finding solutions toward a sustainable energy future, wrapped up by Didier Holleaux IGU’s Regional Coordinator Europe, EVP of Engie Group and the President of Eurogas.

The WGC2025 provides Committees and Task Forces with a good platform to demonstrate their triennial work achievements. Preparing for the WGC2025 is the core task for Committees and Task Forces, paralleling with activities such as research and gas advocacy. Most of Committees and Task Forces have answered the CC-wide survey on new audience and proposed numbers of sessions for WGC2025 during the past three months. Besides traditional audience from the gas industry, regulators, NGOs, electricity and power producers, research institutions, innovative and start-up companies in the fields of new gases, renewable energies, digitalization and finance are placed at the focus of the new audiences to attract. More than 40 sessions have been reserved by Committees and Task Forces, but more demands for hosting session are foreseeable from Committees and Task Forces, IGU members and even external stakeholders. The industries have been motivated.

In the next CC meeting that will be hosted in Perth next October, CC will decide the Call for Abstracts (CfA) procedure and launch the CfA in November as a milestone for the WGC2025 preparation. Everyone in Committees and Task Forces, inside and outside the IGU, is welcome to contribute their ideas and suggestions to CC and National Organizing Committee to better prepare for WGC2025.
