The IGU Executive Committee Workshop has developed over the last years and is now well established as part of the IGU meetings. This year´s workshop included three sessions, starting with the national Omani gas industry, before lifting the focus to the regional and global level.
Key themes provided in the first session were the Omani gas industry and its economic principles, Oman´s geopolitical location and the nation´s past and future investments.
The regional session focused on gas for growth (urbanization, economical growth) and part of the future energy mix. Gas is in many ways the optimum fuel choice in the Middle East. Additional gas supply from the region, as well as LNG flexibility and small scale, were discussed.
The third session took a closer look at the new USA energy policy and its expected changes and went into the COP 21 agreement, taking a closer look at the NDC commitments and their implications on the gas industry.
