Gas and the 3rd G7 Energy Security Forum
Yesterday, 10th March 2025, the International Gas Union (IGU) and the US Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the 3rd Annual CERAWeek Energy Security Forum attended by both G7 delegations and executives of the global Gas industry.
This Forum allowed the G7 member delegations to engage directly with a select group of senior industry executives on the unique and vital role of Gas in contributing to Energy Security, Affordability and Sustainability. At the conclusion of the Forum’s proceedings, the G7 government representatives were presented with a Joint Letter from IGU and the US Chamber of Commerce (attached).

Mr Menelaos (Mel) Ydreos, the Secretary General of the IGU, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to openly discuss the essential role of Gas to human progress and global growth, and highlighted that “the G7 countries play an important role in advancing policies aimed to achieve the Energy Security, Affordability, and Sustainability goals by ensuring that this trilemma stays balanced and removing the barriers to investment in energy supply and infrastructure. We believe that Gas, inclusive of natural gas, LNG, and zero-and-low carbon gases, plays a critical role in enabling this balance now and well into the future.”
