Biogas and biomethane have moved well beyond the status of niche renewables to become part of the strategic infrastructure debate, valued for their ability to strengthen energy security, cut emissions, manage waste, and provide a domestically produced, dispatchable source of renewable gas. Yet their global development is far from uniform.

Europe is emerging as the most mature market, with policy increasingly geared toward upgrading, grid injection, and system integration; the Americas show strong production scale but uneven market conversion; and Asia holds significant resource potential but is still building the regulatory and commercial frameworks needed to support large-scale biomethane growth.

The result is no longer a question of whether biogas and biomethane matter, but of how quickly different regions can turn technical potential into bankable, policy-supported production.
